About the album

On their sophomore album, "Kremess," GRÀB continues to explore themes of tradition and death within the Bavarian Black Metal realm. The album's title translates to "funeral feast" in English, setting a somber tone for the lyrical exploration of alpine folklore. Musically, GRÀB incorporates traditional instruments like the hammered dulcimer while drawing upon early Nordic Black Metal influences from bands such as GEHENNA and ULVER. This blend creates a sound that is both rooted in tradition and refreshingly innovative. The album also marks a shift in songwriting with the addition of English guitarist Gnàst, bringing new vitality to their sound.

The collaborative spirit of "Kremess" is further enriched by contributions from guest musicians affiliated with acts like EMPYRIUM and TRIPTYKON. GRÀB, originally conceived by former DARK FORTRESS frontman Grànt, aims to imbue the Black Metal genre with a distinct Bavarian essence. Their debut album "Zeitlang" was praised for reviving the spirit of early Black Metal, and "Kremess" seeks to expand upon this legacy with its intricate musical landscape and haunting thematic depth.
