Background information about 'Peace'
There are bands that just get it, and Graveyard have always been one of them. From the very first crackle of feedback to the final slow-burning note, Peace feels like a band finally hitting their stride all over again. This is the record where they reach back and grab hold of everything that made Hisingen Blues such a gut-punch, then drag it kicking and screaming into the present. The result is the missing link so many of us have been waiting for: the dirty, straight-ahead stomp of their early days fused with the dreamier, more expansive side they've explored since.
And man, does it swing. "It Ain't Over Yet" opens things up with that swaggering, blues-drenched groove that only these Swedes can pull off, while "Cold Love" and "Please Don't" hit with a raw, almost primal energy. There's a looseness here, a sense that the band simply plugged in and let the songs breathe. Joakim Nilsson's voice is the engine driving it all, equal parts wounded howl and whiskey-soaked croon. Then there are the moments of pure, wide-open beauty like "Bird Of Paradise" and the closing "Low (I Wouldn't Mind)", which drifts off into a haze you never want to end. This isn't a band trying to be clever. This is five musicians doing what they do best: writing heavy, heartfelt rock and roll that gets under your skin and stays there.
