There is a moment on "The Battle At Garden's Gate" where Greta Van Fleet stop being the kids who sound like a legendary band from 1973 and simply become themselves. The Michigan four-piece — brothers Josh, Jake and Sam Kiszka alongside drummer Danny Wagner — went into this record with a bigger canvas, orchestral strings, choirs and a whole lot of space to breathe, and the result is a sprawling, cinematic hard rock album that swings for the fences on every single track.

The opener "Heat Above" floats in on organ and a gentle acoustic strum before exploding into a chorus that could fill a stadium, while "My Way, Soon" struts with a swagger that feels earned rather than borrowed. Then comes "Age of Machine", all brooding riffs and apocalyptic imagery, and "Built By Nations", which stomps with a rhythm section locked tight as a vault. "Tears of Rain" slows things down into something genuinely tender, and "The Weight of Dreams" closes the whole journey with a guitar solo that stretches toward the horizon and refuses to come back down.

It is a record about war, faith, greed and hope, dressed up in fantasy and delivered with the kind of conviction that only comes from a band who truly believe in what they are doing. Turn it up loud.
