Background information about 'Crystalline'
Welsh doom merchants Hark deliver a crushing sonic statement with "Crystalline", an album that showcases their ability to blend crushing heaviness with moments of unexpected beauty. The band crafts a sound that's both brutally heavy and surprisingly melodic, weaving together elements of sludge, doom, and post-metal into something that feels both familiar and refreshingly original. Tracks like "Hounded by Callous Decree" and "Black Hole South West" demonstrate their knack for building tension through dynamic shifts, while "Mythopoeia" reveals their more atmospheric side.
What sets "Crystalline" apart is Hark's commitment to creating genuine emotional weight behind their wall of sound. The album flows seamlessly from the opening "Palendromeda" through to the closing "Clear Light of...", each track serving a purpose in the larger narrative. The production allows every element to breathe while maintaining the crushing impact that makes this such a compelling listen from start to finish.
