Background information about 'Welcome to hel'
Former Kvelertak frontman Hjelvik unleashes his solo fury with "Welcome To Hel", a thunderous declaration of Norse mythology meets modern metal mastery. This debut solo effort showcases Matt Pike's raw vocal prowess freed from his previous band's constraints, diving headfirst into Viking-themed anthems that feel both ancient and urgently contemporary. Tracks like "Thor's Hammer" and "Father War" deliver crushing riffs wrapped in mythological storytelling that would make the gods themselves headbang.
The album strikes a perfect balance between crushing heaviness and melodic sensibility, with "The Power Ballad of Freyr" proving that Hjelvik can craft epic moments without losing an ounce of intensity. Each song feels like a battle hymn pulled straight from Valhalla, with production that captures every thunderous drum hit and searing guitar line. This isn't just heavy metal – it's a spiritual journey through Nordic folklore powered by absolutely devastating musicianship.
