Background information about 'Dawn Of Possession (B-Stock)'
When Immolation unleashed "Dawn Of Possession" back in 1991, they didn't just drop a debut album – they detonated a sonic bomb that would reshape the death metal landscape forever. This isn't your run-of-the-mill brutality; this is cerebral chaos wrapped in technical precision that still leaves seasoned metalheads scratching their heads in bewilderment. The New York quartet crafted something genuinely unsettling here, with Ross Dolan's guttural proclamations serving as the perfect conduit for the band's twisted theological nightmares.
What sets this masterpiece apart is Immolation's uncanny ability to make dissonance feel inevitable rather than jarring. Tracks like "Into Everlasting Fire" and the title cut demonstrate their mastery of creating atmosphere through calculated musical violence. The production captures every nuance of their controlled mayhem, from the rumbling low-end that threatens to cave in your chest to the razor-sharp guitar work that slices through conventional song structures like a hot knife through butter.
