Background information about 'The Immortal Bundle'
Swedish melodic death metal masters IN MOURNING deliver their most emotionally profound statement with "The Immortal", a haunting seventh full-length that weaves two decades of melodic mastery with deep philosophical contemplation. The Dalecarlian quartet channels their signature synthesis of crushing heaviness and melancholic beauty through nine tracks of atmospheric metal that explore mortality's complex landscape, drawing themes of existential reflection through seasonal metaphors and nature's eternal cycles. This is melodic death metal at its most emotionally resonant and atmospherically rich.
Meticulously engineered at the renowned Fascination Street Studios, "The Immortal" achieves stunning sonic depth while preserving the raw emotional intensity that defines their sound. The compelling interplay between Björn Pettersson's powerful growls and Tobias Netzell's soaring clean vocals creates a dynamic emotional journey that amplifies the album's melancholic core. Tim Nedergård's intricate guitar work weaves complex melodic tapestries through layers of atmospheric density, while Corny Althammer's (u.a. Ahab) precise rhythmic foundation drives each composition through contemplative territories. The band describes the atmosphere as "a cold wind blowing throughout the whole record with a slight touch of black metal" – a chilling sonic landscape that perfectly captures the album's themes of mortality and transcendence. The evocative artwork embodies the essence of seasonal transformation and eternal cycles, serving as a visual gateway into the album's philosophical depths and melancholic majesty.
