Background information about 'Born From Shadows (Re-Release)'
There are albums that creep up on you like a winter fog, and then there are those that hit you like a collapsing cathedral. Isole's "Born From Shadows" – originally released in 2008 and now re-issued through Hammerheart Records – belongs firmly in the latter category. This is epic doom metal at its most majestic, a record that takes the torch passed down from Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus, and While Heaven Wept and carries it into its own shadow-draped territory.
The album opens with a monolithic riff that sets the tone for the next hour: crushing, melancholic, yet strangely uplifting. Vocalist Daniel Bryntse delivers his lines with a clean, resonant baritone that soars over the mountainous guitar work, never resorting to growls or shrieks. The production here is warm and organic, letting every doom-laden chord ring out with the proper weight. Tracks like "From The Darkest Night" and "The Lake" showcase the band's ability to build atmosphere through patient, deliberate pacing – nothing feels rushed, every note is placed with intention. The re-release breathes new life into a record that deserves to be heard by a wider audience, sitting comfortably alongside classics of the genre while retaining its own distinct identity.
