Background information about 'Dark Waters Stir'
Norwegian black metal legends Isvind return with the expanded edition of their legendary 1996 debut "Dark Waters Stir" – a frozen monument that helped define the second wave of black metal. This reissue captures the raw, uncompromising spirit that made Oslo's underground scene so vital during the mid-90s. The album's icy atmospherics and relentless aggression showcase a band at their most primal, delivering seven tracks of pure Nordic darkness that feel as urgent today as they did nearly three decades ago.
What makes this edition particularly special is the inclusion of tracks from their self-titled 7" EP, providing a complete picture of Isvind's early creative fury. The production maintains that essential rawness – every tremolo-picked riff cuts through the mix like winter wind, while the blast beats pound with the intensity of a Norwegian blizzard. "Dark Waters Stir" stands as a testament to black metal's most authentic period, when bands like Isvind were crafting their dark art in complete isolation from commercial concerns.
