Background information about 'Entrench'
Ken Mode unleashes pure sonic devastation with "Entrench", an album that hits like a sledgehammer to the skull while maintaining surgical precision in its chaos. This Canadian trio has crafted something genuinely ferocious here – eleven tracks of unrelenting progressive metal that refuses to play by anyone's rules. From the opening assault of "Counter Culture Complex" to the sprawling seven-minute nightmare that is "Romeo Must Never Know", every moment feels like controlled demolition.
What sets "Entrench" apart from the pack is how Ken Mode weaves together crushing heaviness with unexpected melodic passages and intricate rhythmic patterns. The band's ability to shift from grinding post-metal passages to explosive bursts of aggression keeps you constantly on edge. Tracks like "The Terror Pulse" and "Figure Your Life Out" showcase their mastery of dynamics, building tension before unleashing absolute mayhem. The closing epic "Monomyth" serves as a perfect culmination, combining everything that makes this album essential listening.
