Background information about 'Live in Ski'
Forty years after Mayhem first took the stage in Ski, Norway, this absolutely essential release captures the Norwegian black metal legends at their rawest and most primal. "Live In Ski" isn't just another live recording – it's a sonic time capsule that transports you back to April 1985, when the genre's most notorious pioneers were still carving their path through the underground with sheer brutality and uncompromising vision.
This historic performance showcases Mayhem in their earliest incarnation, tearing through cover versions of Venom and Celtic Frost classics with the ferocity that would later define an entire movement. The recording quality perfectly captures that underground authenticity – raw, unpolished, and absolutely electrifying. You can practically feel the sweat and chaos of that legendary night, when black metal was still finding its voice through these Norwegian visionaries.
For fans of:
Venom, Celtic Frost, Bathory, Darkthrone, Immortal, Emperor
