After 35 years of relentless darkness, Norwegian black metal veterans Tulus prove they're nowhere near finished with their eighth full-length offering. "Morbid Desires" delivers exactly what longtime devotees expect – nine tracks of hellishly catchy mid-tempo brutality that showcases the Nittedal trio's masterful command of their craft. Blodstrup's grim vocals slice through an abundance of infectious riffs, creating that trademark Tulus sound that has kept them relevant for over three decades.

What sets "Morbid Desires" apart is its surprising diversity within the familiar framework. Fast-paced sections explode without warning, beautifully chanted vocals provide haunting interludes, and flamenco and acoustic guitars weave unexpected textures throughout. The album's crown jewel, "Sabbat", stands as an undeniable tribute to Black Sabbath – the longest track here and arguably the most impressive display of the band's outstanding musicianship. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Andy La Rocque at Sonic Train Studios in Sweden, this is Tulus at their most refined yet uncompromising.
