Background information about 'The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead!'
Megadeth are back, and they sound absolutely furious. The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead! is the band's sixteenth studio album and a monstrous return to form that reminds you exactly why Dave Mustaine is one of the most distinctive voices in thrash metal. Released in 2022, this record hits like a sledgehammer wrapped in razor wire. From the opening riff of the title track, it's clear that the fire hasn't dimmed one bit.
The album is a relentless beast. Tracks like "Soldier On!" and "Night Stalkers" (featuring Ice-T of all people, and somehow it works brilliantly) showcase a band that has fully embraced its legacy while still pushing forward. Mustaine's signature snarl is as venomous as ever, and the guitar work — shared with the phenomenal Kiko Loureiro — is absolutely surgical. The production is crisp, heavy, and modern without losing that raw thrash edge that made classics like Rust in Peace so timeless. There's even a cover of "We'll Be Back" that closes the album with a crushing sense of finality. This is Megadeth at their most focused, most aggressive, and most vital in decades.
