Background information about 'Sweet Death And Ecstasy (Re-Release)'
Midnight, the Cleveland-based blackened thrash metal outfit, delivers a reissue of their ferocious album "Sweet Death and Ecstasy". Known for their unapologetic embrace of speed and aggression, this album sees Midnight channeling the raw energy reminiscent of early '80s metal intertwined with punk's chaotic ethos. The opening track "Crushed By Demons" sets the tone with a relentless barrage of riffs and an unyielding tempo that refuses to relent.
The band's mastermind, Athenar, orchestrates a sonic assault that merges sinister melodies with guttural vocals throughout the eight tracks. Songs like "Penetratal Ecstasy" and "Here Comes Sweet Death" encapsulate the band's signature sound—feral yet melodic—a dichotomy that keeps listeners on edge. This release is not merely a rehash but rather an essential piece for any purveyor of unrefined metal mayhem.
