Background information about 'Diatribes'
Man, what a crushing return to form this was! Released originally in 1996, "Diatribes" finds Napalm Death delivering some of their most focused and devastating material to date. The album showcases the band's evolution from their pure grindcore roots into a more refined yet equally brutal death metal territory. Tracks like "Greed Killing" and "Glimpse Into Genocide" hit with the precision of a sledgehammer, while Barney Greenway's vocals reach new levels of intensity. The production by Colin Richardson gives every instrument room to breathe while maintaining that crushing wall of sound that makes your speakers weep.
What really sets this album apart is how Napalm Death manages to balance their trademark aggression with more intricate songwriting. "Ripe For The Breaking" and "Take The Strain" demonstrate the band's ability to craft memorable hooks without sacrificing an ounce of brutality. The rhythm section of Danny Herrera and Shane Embury provides an absolutely thunderous foundation, while the guitar work from Mitch Harris and Jesse Pintado weaves between crushing riffs and surprisingly melodic passages. This reissue brings the album back to life with crystal-clear sound quality that highlights every devastating detail.
