Background information about 'Promo Tape 1990'

This legendary promo tape stands as one of the most significant early recordings in Hellenic black metal history. Necromantia already showcased their trademark sound on this very first recording - a haunting blend that would influence countless bands in the years to come. The omission of guitars as rhythm instruments in favor of two bass guitars created an unprecedented sonic landscape, while eerie theatrical passages reminiscent of audio drama added an unsettling dimension that was totally unlike anything in the metal scene at the time.

The abysmal vocals and pitch-black atmosphere captured on this crude yet brilliant recording demonstrate the band's innate understanding of darkness from day one. Magus Wampyr Daoloth and the late Baron Blood crafted something truly special here - sounds that couldn't possibly have been made without assistance from beyond the grave. This promo tape became the foundation for Necromantia's legendary status and continues to serve as an inexhaustible source of inspiration for black metal fanatics worldwide.
