Background information about 'Peril'
Nervesaw deal in the kind of death metal that doesn't ask for your attention — it simply takes it. "Peril" is a record built on tension, and it never really lets that tension go. The guitars grind and slice in equal measure, the rhythm section locks into a groove that's as physical as it is punishing, and the vocals sit right up front, barking and snarling like they've got something to prove. There's a real sense of craft here, too: the band knows exactly when to slam the brakes and let a riff breathe before they kick the whole thing back into overdrive. It's nasty, it's tight, and it's got hooks buried under all that filth.
What makes "Peril" stick around after the last note is how deliberate it feels. Nothing here is filler. The songs are lean, the transitions are sharp, and the whole thing has that classic old-school death metal feel without ever sounding like a museum piece. Nervesaw wear their influences on their sleeves, sure, but they twist them into something that hits hard on its own terms.
