After a five-year studio silence, the Tampa death metal legends didn't just return; they came back swinging with the kind of primal, groove-laden fury that reminds you exactly why these guys helped invent the genre. From the moment Centuries Of Lies kicks in with that unmistakable John Tardy snarl — still one of the most unhinged, instantly recognizable voices in extreme music — you know you're not dealing with some tired legacy act going through the motions. The riffs on this record have that swampy, down-tuned nastiness that defined classics like Cause of Death, but there's a sharpness here, a sense of purpose that feels utterly revitalized.

The production, courtesy of the band themselves, hits that sweet spot between raw and crushing. Kenny Andrews and Trevor Peres lay down riff after riff that burrow into your skull — Violent By Nature and the title track Inked In Blood are absolute monsters, built on that signature Obituary mid-tempo stomp that makes you want to destroy your living room. Donald Tardy's drumming is as locked-in as ever, all feel and groove where lesser bands would just blast away mindlessly. And then there's Visions In My Head — a track that proves these Florida death metal pioneers can still write hooks without sacrificing an ounce of brutality. The closing one-two punch of Out Of Blood and Paralyzed With Fear is pure, undiluted Obituary: doom-laden, suffocating, and impossibly heavy. This isn't nostalgia. This is a band that found its teeth again and bit down hard.
