The album opens with "Return to the House," a track that immediately establishes the band's mastery of atmosphere. There's a raw, almost punkish energy coursing through these songs, but it's wrapped in layers of genuine occult darkness that feels less like theatrical posturing and more like a genuine ritual. The guitar work throughout is absolutely vicious — tremolo-picked madness that swirls like smoke around the pounding, primitive drum patterns. What sets Night Without End apart from the endless sea of black metal releases is the songwriting. Occvlta understand dynamics, they understand when to pull back and let the tension build, and they sure as hell understand when to unleash chaos. There's even a track called "Nosferatu," and yes, it's every bit as gothic and menacing as you'd hope.
