Background information about 'The Cancer Pledge'

October Tide delivers another crushing blow to the death-doom scene with "The Cancer Pledge", a haunting eight-track journey that showcases the Swedish masters at their most devastating. This album stands as a testament to the band's evolution since their reformation, weaving together the melancholic atmospheres that made their early work legendary with a newfound aggression that cuts deep. From the opening moments of "Peaceful, Quiet, Safe" to the closing despair of "Breathe The Water", each track unfolds like chapters in a dark novel of human suffering and existential dread.

The production captures every nuance of Fredrik Norrman's guitar work, allowing the crushing riffs and sorrowful melodies to breathe while maintaining the raw intensity that defines modern death-doom. Tracks like "Unprecedented Aggression" and the title track "The Cancer Pledge" showcase the band's ability to seamlessly transition between bone-crushing heaviness and moments of haunting beauty. The Swedish lyrics on "Blodfattig" add an extra layer of authenticity to this deeply personal collection of songs.
