Background information about 'Frequencies From Planet Ten (Re-Release)'
When Orange Goblin unleashed "Frequencies From Planet Ten" back in the day, they carved out a sonic territory that sits perfectly between crushing doom and psychedelic space rock. This re-release captures the raw energy of their early years, when the London quartet was still finding their feet in the stoner rock underground. The album opens with "The Astral Project", immediately establishing that cosmic heaviness that would become their trademark – thick, fuzzed-out riffs that feel like they're transmitted from some distant galaxy.
What makes this collection truly special are the three bonus demo tracks that offer a fascinating glimpse into the band's creative process. The demo versions of "Saruman's Wish" and "Aquatic Fanatic" showcase a more stripped-down, garage-heavy approach, while "Black Shapes Of Doom" stands as a previously unreleased gem that perfectly captures their early experimental spirit. The production maintains that wonderfully analog warmth that defined the era, with Ben Ward's vocals cutting through layers of distorted guitar work like a beacon through cosmic fog.
