Background information about 'Be Forewarned (Re-Release)'
When Pentagram dropped "Be Forewarned" back in 1994, they delivered what many consider their most cohesive and powerful statement. This isn't just another doom metal album – it's a masterclass in heavy, atmospheric songwriting that bridges the gap between their earlier proto-doom experiments and the more refined approach that would influence countless bands in the decades to come. Bobby Liebling's haunting vocals weave through Victor Griffin's crushing riffs like smoke through a graveyard, creating an atmosphere that's both menacing and deeply emotional.
The album showcases Pentagram at their most dynamic, with tracks like "Be Forewarned" and "Review Your Choices" demonstrating their ability to shift from crushing heaviness to more introspective moments without losing their signature dark edge. Griffin's guitar work is particularly noteworthy here – his riffs don't just crush, they tell stories, painting vivid pictures of despair and redemption. The rhythm section locks in perfectly, providing the foundation for some of the most memorable doom anthems ever committed to vinyl.
