Background information about 'Non Serviam'

One of the most seminal albums in black metal history, Rotting Christ's "Non Serviam" became the blueprint for the Greeks' now-iconic sound. Echoing the raw, gritty nature of the band's contemporaries at the time such as BATHORY and CELTIC FROST, the organic production, dark passages, and refreshed take on the genre attracted a dedicated and cult following. This sophomore release saw the Hellenic black metal battalion start to evolve and find their identity, ultimately creating their spirited, anthemic brand of black metal as we know it today. Season of Mist is now reissuing this essential record in a gorgeous transparent red vinyl edition that collectors will absolutely need to get their hands on.

From the ominous opening of "The Fifth Illusion" to the crushing closer "Saturn Unlock Avey's Son", this record is a masterclass in atmospheric darkness and raw aggression. The band's unique ability to blend haunting melodies with fierce, uncompromising metal shines through every track. The artwork by Nikos Miritis perfectly captures the occult atmosphere that permeates the entire album. A true cornerstone of the genre, "Non Serviam" remains as vital and powerful today as it was upon its original release, and this reissue finally gives it the physical treatment it deserves.
