Runemagick have been dragging the bottom end of death metal through the mire for decades now, and "Last Skull of Humanity" is exactly the kind of slow-motion, riff-crushing monument their cult following lives for. This is doom metal in its most primordial form: riffs that feel like tectonic plates grinding against each other, vocals that rumble up from somewhere far below the earth's crust, and a production that sounds like it was recorded in a damp catacomb. From the opening "Enter the Realm of Death" you know exactly what you're in for, and that's precisely the point. There is no trend-chasing here, no clean choruses, no compromise. Just a band doing what they do best with total conviction.

The title track is a masterclass in patient, punishing heaviness, building slowly before collapsing into a groove that will have your head moving whether you like it or not. "Longing for Hades" and "Beyond Death" keep the atmosphere thick and suffocating, the kind of music that rewards full immersion and a dark room. What makes Runemagick special is that they never confuse slowness with laziness — every riff lands with purpose, every tempo shift feels earned. This is the sound of a band utterly at home in their own misery, and honestly, it's impossible not to be pulled into their world.
