Background information about 'Split'
This split release brings together Sangharsha and Blank, two bands that clearly operate on the same dark and heavy wavelength. Sangharsha opens the A-side with three tracks of crushing, downtrodden sludge that feels less like music and more like a slow-moving wall of concrete pressing down on your chest. "Grina," "Kira," and "Saran" unfold with patient, agonizing riffs that grind forward with an almost ritualistic intensity. The vocals sit deep in the mix, raw and desperate, buried under layers of fuzz and feedback that give the whole side a suffocating, claustrophobic atmosphere.
Flip it over and Blank takes over with a different kind of heaviness. "Solaris," "Old Oaths," and "The Maw" are more dynamic, shifting between brooding, atmospheric passages and sudden bursts of violent, lurching riffage. There is a sense of dread that runs through these tracks, a slow-burning tension that never quite resolves. Blank knows how to stretch a note until it feels unbearable, then drop the hammer when you least expect it. Together, these six tracks make for a perfect introduction to two bands that deserve far more attention in the underground sludge scene. This split is raw, uncompromising, and utterly essential for anyone who likes their metal slow, heavy, and full of spite.
