Background information about 'Arcana Vanity Death (The Demos Years)'

There's something utterly magical about diving into a band's formative years, and Secrets of the Moon's Arcana Vanity Death (The Demos Years) is exactly the kind of treasure chest that makes you fall in love with black metal all over again. This 3LP behemoth collects the German occultists' rawest, most unpolished recordings from 1995 to 2000, and honestly, it's a revelation.\n\nConjured into existence by bassist and vocalist Daevas after his departure from Martyrium in 1995, Secrets of the Moon would go on to become one of Germany's most revered dark metal acts over 27 years. But before the masterpiece that is Stronghold of the Inviolables (2001), there was the primordial chaos of demos like "Unearthed Arcana" (1995) and "Vanitas" (1997), the elusive "Moondance Madness" tape, the "Promotape 98", and the cult split 7" with Lunar Aurora. What these recordings lack in studio polish, they make up tenfold in sheer mystical atmosphere. You can hear a band still finding their voice, drenched in occult fascination, and it's absolutely captivating.\n\nEvery single track has been freshly remastered from the original tapes by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony, breathing new life into these dusty relics. The booklet alone — a 24-page monster featuring a brand new in-depth interview with Lars "Devas" Plegge and Phil "sG" Jonas alongside never-before-seen photos — is worth the price of admission. Over 130 minutes of pure black metal magik, folks. This is essential listening for anyone who understands that sometimes the most honest music is found in the shadows before the spotlight.\n\nFor fans of:\nLunar Aurora, Lunar Aurora, Nagelfar, Katharsis
