Background information about 'Repentless'

When Slayer dropped Repentless in 2015, the metal world held its breath. It was the first album without the late, great Jeff Hanneman, and the first with Gary Holt (Exodus) handling lead guitar duties. And what a statement it turned out to be. From the opening assault of Delusions of Saviour to the crushing title track, Slayer proved that even after 30+ years, they were still the most vicious band on the planet.

Repentless is a masterclass in controlled chaos. Kerry King's riffs are razor-sharp, Tom Araya's vocals are as venomous as ever, and Dave Lombardo – wait, no, Paul Bostaph absolutely annihilates behind the kit. The album doesn't try to reinvent the wheel; instead, it doubles down on everything that made Slayer legendary. When the Stillness Comes and Cast the First Stone are neck-snapping thrash anthems, while Implode brings that signature mid-paced stomp. The production by Terry Date is massive – every snare hit cuts like a knife, every riff hits like a sledgehammer. This is pure, unfiltered, hate-filled thrash metal from a band that wrote the damn rulebook.
