TANK · Power Of The Hunter | SPLATTER LP

Black/yellow splatter vinyl in standard cover.

Background information about 'Power Of The Hunter'

If there was ever a record that sounded like a fist wrapped in leather smashing straight through your speakers, it's "Power Of The Hunter". Tank came roaring out of the NWOBHM scene with a ferocity that few could match, and this second album from 1982 is the moment they truly found their killer instinct. The riffs hit harder, the drums pound like a war machine, and Algy Ward's snarling vocals sound like he's got something to prove to the entire world.

From the opening crunch of "Walking Barefoot Over Glass" to the relentless stomp of the title track, this is heavy metal at its most primal and glorious. There's a raw, street-level energy running through every song, a sense that these guys lived and breathed this music in the most unapologetic way possible. Tracks like "Pure Hatred" and "Biting And Scratching" aren't just song titles, they're a mission statement. And then there's the gloriously unhinged cover of "Crazy Horses", proof that Tank could swing as hard as they could crush.

This is one of those albums that hardcore metalheads have been championing for over four decades, and for good reason. It's loud, it's aggressive, it's unbelievably fun, and it captures a band at the exact moment they were becoming legends. If you've ever wondered what the early 80s metal underground really sounded like when it was dangerous and electric, this is your answer.
