"PETROL", the sophomore effort from Swiss doom innovators Tar Pond, is a deep dive into the sonic depths that draw from both American and British doom metal legacies. Influences like Saint Vitus and Black Sabbath resonate through each track, crafting a dense tapestry of riffs and rhythms that evoke a sense of melancholic grandeur. The album maintains a unique identity by blending these classic inspirations with modern doom soundscapes akin to Electric Wizard or Acid Bath.

Following the passing of Celtic Frost's Martin Ain, Tar Pond faced an uncertain future. Yet, driven by their commitment to their art, they forged ahead to create "PETROL." This second album emerges as an ode to their perseverance, piecing together contributions from both original and new members. Recorded under the guidance of famed producer Tommy Vetterli, it stands as a testament to Tar Pond's enduring spirit and musical exploration.
