Background information about 'Woods 4: The Green Album'

Woods of Ypres was never a band that played it safe, and "Woods 4: The Green Album" is proof of that fearless vision. Mastermind David Gold crafted a record that defies easy categorization, blending the crushing weight of doom metal with the melancholy beauty of gothic rock and a healthy dose of melancholic folk sensibility. This is not your typical blackened doom affair - it's something far more personal, introspective, and ultimately human.

The album flows like a journey through loss, longing, and quiet acceptance. Tracks like "Shards Of Love (Hurt Forever)" open with glacial heaviness before unfolding into something almost tender, while "By The Time You Read This (I Will Already Be Dead)" delivers gut-wrenching emotional weight wrapped in deceptively accessible melodies. The clean, mournful vocals contrast beautifully with occasional harsh passages, creating a dynamic tension that keeps the listener on edge throughout. "Wet Leather" and "Suicide Cargoload (Drag That Weight)" showcase the band's ability to write crushing riffs that still carry genuine emotional resonance. This is doom metal for people who feel too much, music that understands that heaviness isn't just about volume - it's about the weight of existence itself.
