Background information about 'Not In Rivers, But In Drops EP'
ISIS delivers an absolutely crushing sonic statement with this essential EP that showcases the band's mastery of atmospheric heaviness. The centerpiece "Not In Rivers, But In Drops" appears here in both its original album version and an alternate take, revealing the intricate layers that make this track such a monument of post-metal brilliance. The way ISIS builds tension through hypnotic repetition before unleashing earth-shaking crescendos is nothing short of breathtaking.
The real treasure here is the Thomas Dimuzio remix of "Holy Tears" – a mind-bending 12-minute journey that transforms the original into something completely otherworldly. Dimuzio's electronic manipulations create haunting textures that complement ISIS's already cinematic approach perfectly. This isn't just a throwaway collection; it's a vital piece of the ISIS puzzle that demonstrates their willingness to push boundaries and explore new sonic territories.
