Threshold arrived with something rare: a progressive metal record that actually breathes, that lets its melodies soar instead of hiding them behind a wall of technical showing-off. Now remixed and remastered, this album finally gets the sonic treatment it always deserved, and the difference is striking. Guitars cut sharper, the low end has real weight, and suddenly you can hear every detail of what made this band so special from day one.
The songwriting here is the real star. Tracks like "Consume To Live" and "Sanity's End" balance crunchy riffs with genuinely gorgeous vocal hooks, while "Paradox" and "Siege Of Baghdad" stretch out into ambitious, twisting arrangements that reward repeated listens. There is a warmth to this material that a lot of progressive metal from that era simply did not have, and the bonus tracks add real value rather than feeling like filler. This is the sound of a band planting a flag and daring everyone else to catch up.
