Background information about 'Darkness In The Light'
Unearth's sixth studio album, "Darkness in the Light", stands as a testament to the band's unwavering commitment to the metalcore genre. Released under the iconic Metal Blade Records in 2011, this album showcases a masterful blend of aggressive riffs and intricate melodies. The record opens with "Watch It Burn", an explosive track that sets the tone for the adrenaline-fueled journey ahead. Throughout its eleven tracks, Unearth crafts a sonic landscape that balances technical prowess with raw emotional intensity. The guitars of Buz McGrath and Ken Susi weave seamlessly to create cascading walls of sound that both pummel and uplift.
This record also marks the return of drummer Justin Foley, whose precise drumming adds a layer of complexity to tracks like "Shadows In The Light" and "Disillusion." Trevor Phipps' commanding vocal delivery anchors each song, guiding listeners through themes of inner turmoil and resilience. With Adam Dutkiewicz at the helm as producer, Unearth achieves a polished yet visceral sound that captures their live energy while pushing their boundaries in new directions.
