Background information about 'Thought Form Descent'

Wake have never been a band that lets you settle in comfortably, and "Thought Form Descent" is the sound of a group pushing its own extremities even further into the red. The Canadians built their name on a relentless, grinding death metal attack, but here they stretch that foundation into colder, more atmospheric territory — blackened tremolo passages bleeding into doom-weighted crawl, dissonant chords hanging in the air like smoke that refuses to clear. It is dense, suffocating and genuinely thrilling in the way the best extreme records are: you do not simply listen to it, you survive it.

What makes this record land so hard is the craft behind the chaos. The riffing is razor sharp, the drumming constantly shifting gears between blastbeat fury and slow, deliberate crush, and the production gives every element room to breathe without ever softening the blow. Tracks like the opener and the sprawling mid-album pieces show a band thinking in movements rather than singles, building tension across minutes and then releasing it in one brutal, cathartic burst. There is melody buried in there too, cold and mournful, which only makes the heavy passages hit harder.
