Background information about 'Sóknardalr (Re-Release)'
Emerging from the frosty landscapes of Norway, Windir's debut album "Sóknardalr" stands as a testament to the band's unique blend of black metal intertwined with elements of folk. Released originally in 1997, this album captures the raw yet melodic essence that would become a defining characteristic of Windir. Driven by Valfar's distinctive vocal and instrumental prowess, "Sóknardalr" unfolds like an ancestral saga told through haunting riffs and atmospheric synth layers.
However, this particular repressing comes with a peculiar misprint - instead of the anticipated symphonic storm from Sogndal's own warriors, listeners might find themselves entranced by Ulver's "Bergtatt". While this mishap adds a layer of intrigue to collectors and fans alike, it inadvertently invites them into another facet of Norwegian black metal history.
