Background information about 'Helios'
There are albums that just sit there, and then there are records like Firtan's Helios that grab you by the throat from the first note and don't let go. Named after the sun itself, this is not some gentle, warm sunrise — this is a brutal, scorching ascent. The German black metal outfit has crafted something that fuses the raw, atmospheric ferocity of the genre with the crushing weight of death metal, creating a soundscape that mirrors its core theme: clarity forged through struggle.
What really sets Helios apart is how the band weaves acoustic and electric violin through their compositions. These melancholic and experimental tones create tension and complexity, enhancing the intricate riffing and unexpected musical shifts. Throw in various acoustic instruments, ritualistic chants, and analogue synthesizers, and you've got layers upon layers of depth and atmosphere. The result is an album that charts the brutal path to enlightenment — not as escape, but as conquest. It's about becoming the strongest, clearest version of oneself in a world engineered for distraction and decay. This is black metal that thinks, that feels, and that absolutely rips.
