Background information about 'Helios'
Firtan return with "Helios", an album that doesn't just stare into the abyss – it grabs the sun by the throat. Named after the celestial bringer of light itself, this record is a brutal, breathtaking journey toward enlightenment, not as some gentle escape but as a hard-fought conquest. The German black metal outfit fuses raw, atmospheric ferocity with the crushing weight of death metal, creating a soundscape that mirrors the album's core theme: clarity forged through sheer struggle. There's no comfort zone here, only the relentless push toward becoming the strongest, clearest version of oneself in a world engineered for distraction and decay.
What truly sets "Helios" apart is the masterful integration of acoustic and electric violin, weaving melancholic and experimental tones through the band's intricate riffing and unexpected shifts. The violin doesn't just accompany – it challenges, creating tension and complexity that elevate every track. Add in ritualistic chants, acoustic instruments, and analogue synthesizers, and you've got a record that breathes, shifts, and refuses to sit still. This is black metal that dares to expand its boundaries without losing its razor-sharp edge.
