Background information about 'Year Of The Cobra'

In their self-titled third album, "Year of the Cobra," the Seattle-based duo Year of the Cobra continues to redefine the boundaries of heavy metal. Opting for a minimalistic approach devoid of traditional guitars, bassist Amy Tung Barrysmith and drummer Jon Barrysmith deliver a sound that is both thunderous and melodically intriguing. Building upon the foundation laid by their previous works, "...in the Shadows Below" and "Ash and Dust," this album showcases refined songwriting and a knack for creating heavy yet catchy melodies. Amy's voice oscillates between velvety smoothness and gritty rawness, perfectly complementing the rhythmic interplay between her bass grooves and Jon's nuanced drumming. Their unique blend of doom metal melancholy with psychedelic sludge creates an immersive sonic experience that promises to captivate listeners from start to finish.
