About the album

"Little Weight" marks a significant evolution in 40 Watt Sun’s sonic journey. Moving away from the extensive collaborative efforts that defined their previous album, "Perfect Light," Patrick Walker, the band’s frontman and creative force, sought to recapture the rawness and immediacy that characterized their earlier work. The album was crafted during a series of retreats, allowing Walker and his bandmates, drummer Andrew Prestidge and bassist Roland Scriver, to focus intensely on the music without distractions. Recorded at Holy Mountain Studios in London, and mixed by Chris Fullard, known for his work with Sunn O))) and Ulver, "Little Weight" delivers a sonic tapestry woven with emotions of longing, love, and nostalgia. Its minimalist approach highlights Walker's poignant songwriting and the band's ability to create profound emotional landscapes.

The production process was designed to eliminate unnecessary back-and-forth communication, capturing the essence of inspiration as it first emerged. This method not only preserved the initial emotional intent behind each track but also brought an urgency to the recordings reflective of their spontaneous origins. With evocative cover art by Tekla Vály and mastering by Adam Gonsalves in Portland, Oregon, "Little Weight" offers listeners a deeply intimate experience that resonates with poetic beauty.
