Arckanum is back with Fenris Kindir, a ferocious slab of raw and atmospheric Black Metal that feels like it was carved from the frozen Nordic earth itself. This one-man project, helmed by the enigmatic Shamaatae, delivers eleven tracks of blistering, tremolo-picked fury wrapped in a cloak of ancient Norse mysticism. The album wastes no time getting down to business - opener "Fenris Kindir Grúa" hits like a snowstorm, all icy riffs and relentless drumming that sets the tone for what follows.

What makes Fenris Kindir stand out is how it balances primal aggression with moments of eerie, almost ritualistic atmosphere. Tracks like "Tungls Tjúgari" and "Dólgrinn" weave hypnotic guitar lines through the chaos, creating a sound that's both punishing and strangely meditative. Shamaatae's vocals are raw and cavernous, buried deep in the mix like an ancient spirit howling from the mountains. The production is suitably lo-fi but never muddy - every riff cuts through with clarity and purpose. "Vargöld" and "Angrboða" showcase the project's knack for building tension and releasing it in devastating waves, while "Spell" offers a slower, more menacing crawl that lingers long after the album ends. This is Black Metal rooted in tradition but executed with a conviction that feels utterly timeless.
