Background information about 'Gava Fran Trulen (The Demo Years)'

This reissue collection brings together Arckanum's formative early works Demo -93 and Trulen, marking the first time these legendary recordings have been made available since their original tape releases. The journey begins with Demo -93, recorded in 1993 by a three-piece lineup in their rehearsal room with minimal equipment. While stylistically caught between Death and Black Metal, this raw and spontaneous effort showcases the youthful enthusiasm that would eventually evolve into something far more distinctive. The demo's cover already featured a painting of Pan, hinting at the occult themes that would become central to Arckanum's identity.

The real transformation occurs with 1994's Trulen, where Shamaatae carved out his own unique niche as a solo artist. This demo represents the true beginning of Arckanum's journey, featuring all the elements that would make the first three albums so magical: the completely original and versatile vocals, simple yet memorable repetitive riffs, atmospheric sections with nature sounds and keyboard melodies, and lyrics written and sung in Old Swedish. The development between the two demos is tremendous, especially considering everything was composed and recorded by one person. Original tape transfers have been carefully restored and mastered by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony.
