Background information about 'Gava Fran Trulen (The Demo Years)'

Long before Fran Marder turned Arckanum into a name whispered with reverence, there was a rehearsal room, a handful of cheap gear and a young Shamaatae chasing something he could not yet name. Gava Fran Trulen (The Demo Years) drags that moment back into the light: the 1993 demo and its 1994 successor "Trulen", finally reissued together, restored from the original tapes by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony. For anyone who has only ever met this band through the later, fully-formed albums, this is the sound of a vision assembling itself in real time.

The first demo is a scrappy, restless thing, torn between death and black metal, driven by the reckless energy of people who had not yet decided what they wanted to be. Then comes "Trulen", and the ground shifts. Suddenly the pieces are all there: those strange, versatile vocals, riffs that repeat until they burrow in, cold keyboard lines, field recordings of wind and forest, lyrics sung in Old Swedish. Shamaatae built an entire antikosmos here, alone, and you can hear him discovering it as the tape rolls. It is rough, it is strange, and it is absolutely magnetic.
