Background information about 'The Satanist'

There are albums that define a band's legacy, and then there's "The Satanist" — a record so towering, so relentlessly brilliant that it feels less like a musical statement and more like a ritual cast in iron and fire. Behemoth returned from the brink of dissolution to deliver their magnum opus in 2014, and every single second of this double LP incarnation bleeds with purpose. From the opening brass fanfare of Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel to the crushing, almost liturgical weight of the title track, this is blackened death metal at its most transcendent. Nergal's vocals have never sounded more possessed, more commanding — a guttural roar that feels ancient and apocalyptic in equal measure. The production, handled by the band themselves alongside the legendary Colin Richardson and Matt Hyde, is a masterclass in clarity without sacrificing an ounce of brutality. The orchestral elements, the choir-like chants, the razor-sharp riffing — it all coalesces into something that feels both monumental and deeply personal. This special violet/black splatter vinyl edition comes in a deluxe gatefold cover with a booklet and is limited to 500 handnumbered copies, making it a true collector's piece for those who understand the weight of what this album represents. Whether you're revisiting this modern classic or hearing it for the first time on wax, "The Satanist" demands your full attention. It's not background music. It's a ceremony.
