Background information about 'The IVth Crusade (Re-Release FDR)'
Bolt Thrower's "The IVth Crusade" stands as one of the most devastating and influential death metal albums ever unleashed upon the world. Originally released in 1992, this FDR remaster brings new life to the band's fourth studio effort, showcasing their signature blend of crushing riffs, thunderous drums, and war-themed brutality. The album marks a pivotal moment in the band's evolution, where they perfected their sound that would influence countless death metal acts for decades to come. From the opening assault of "The Ivth Crusade" to the atmospheric closer "Through The Ages (Outro)", every track delivers relentless power and precision.
The production on this remaster allows every crushing detail to shine through - Karl Willetts' commanding vocals cut through the mix like a battle cry, while the twin guitar attack creates walls of sound that feel like medieval warfare translated into sonic form. Tracks like "Spearhead" and "This Time It's War" demonstrate the band's ability to balance sheer aggression with memorable songwriting, while "Celestial Sanctuary" offers moments of haunting melody within the chaos. This is death metal at its most focused and devastating, where every riff serves a purpose and every song builds toward total annihilation.
