Background information about 'Beneath Grow Lights Thou Shalt Rise'

What happens when you take the brutal precision of Florida death metal and inject it with enough green humor to make even the most serious metalhead crack a grin? You get Cannabis Corpse and their absolutely devastating fourth album "Beneath Grow Lights Thou Shalt Rise". This re-issue brings back one of the most gloriously unhinged albums in modern death metal, where LandPhil Hall's guttural vocals and his brother Hallhammer's punishing drums create a sonic greenhouse of pure brutality.

From the opening assault of "Visions from the Dank Side" to the title track's crushing finale, this album is a masterclass in how parody and genuine musical prowess can coexist beautifully. The Hall brothers don't just worship at the altar of Cannibal Corpse and Morbid Angel – they've created their own twisted strain of death metal that's both hilariously clever and genuinely terrifying. Every riff hits like a perfectly rolled joint of pure aggression, while the production captures that classic Florida death metal sound that made legends of their influences.
