Background information about 'Born Under A Mad Sign'

Japan's Church of Misery returns with their sixth studio album "Born Under A Mad Sign", delivering another crushing dose of their signature serial killer-themed doom metal that has made them legends in the underground scene. The Tokyo-based quartet continues their macabre fascination with America's most notorious criminals, weaving tales of murder and mayhem into monolithic riffs that could wake the dead. From the opening assault of "Beltway Sniper" to the haunting "Murder Castle Blues", the band demonstrates why they've remained at the forefront of Japanese heavy music for over two decades.

The album showcases Church of Misery's ability to balance crushing heaviness with surprisingly melodic passages, creating an atmosphere that's both menacing and hypnotic. Each track serves as a musical biography of infamous killers, with the band's trademark fuzzed-out bass lines and thunderous drums providing the perfect backdrop for these dark narratives. The production captures the raw, analog warmth that fans have come to expect, while allowing each instrument to breathe within the dense sonic landscape. This is doom metal at its most uncompromising and effective.
