Background information about 'Above, Below, & Through'

A season of change, hibernation and inspiration fueled Cloak in creating "Above, Below, & Through", the quartet's first album for Metal Blade and their fourth overall. And you can hear that restless energy in every single second of it. The Atlanta four-piece took everything that was great about their last LP, "Black Flame Eternal", and amplified it completely, while still standing as an album of its own. That is a rare balancing act, and they pull it off with the confidence of a band that knows exactly what it wants.

Thematically, this is a record built around liminality and duality, lyrics and ideas about thresholds, the spaces in between, the things that live above us and below us and pass right through us. What started as a conscious decision to give the new material a conceptual vibe ended up as a fully realized opus. Sonically, tracked between January and April 2026, it is the band's most lush and massive-sounding record to date. The drums are huge but never processed sounding, the bass rumbles with real weight, and the guitar tones are full of attack and focus. Listeners will notice a big difference between this production and Cloak's previous records, and it is the kind of difference that makes a band feel reborn. Dark, sweeping, and gloriously alive.
