Background information about 'Hellbound & Hammered'

"Hellbound & Hammered" is the sound of a band that has absolutely no interest in behaving itself, and thank the riff gods for that. Devil's Hour come tearing out of Frankfurt am Main with filthy Black 'n' Roll built on a punk attitude, and their second full-length is a proper kick in the teeth. Razor-sharp riffs collide with precise, no-nonsense drumming, while the vocals spit pure aggression over expansive, screaming guitar solos. You can hear the whole glorious mess of their record collection in here: first wave black metal's raw spirit, the swagger of '80s and '90s heavy and speed metal, and the sneering energy of punk rock. It is hessian steel forged from beer, rage and pure attitude.

What makes this record so much fun is how unapologetically in-house it all feels. Recorded entirely by the band themselves, mixed by Taperunner Records and mastered by Nikita Kamprad, these ten tracks keep every bit of grit and sleaze intact. The duo of former member Wild Rogan and frontman Burt Cocaine started this whole thing back in 2020 under the name Sexrex, and with the 2023 EP "Black 'n' Punk Marauders" the now four-piece outfit finally took shape as a live band. Following a demo, two EPs and the debut "Apocalyptic Drunken Bastards", this is the next act of disgrace, and it lands with a grin and a middle finger raised. Filth and sleaze are the core expertise here, and they are proudly Germany's worst lifestyle product. Long may it stay that way.
