Background information about 'Die VVatzmannsage'
Drudensang's "Die Vvatzmannsage" is a haunting journey through the dark folklore of the Bavarian and Austrian Alps, where ancient legends come alive through atmospheric black metal. This EP presents five hymns that weave together tales of the mythical Watzmann, a figure of rage and bloodlust whose crimson essence flows through the veins of these towering peaks. The band masterfully captures the essence of Alpine mysticism, transforming wicked creatures and deadly nebulae into sonic landscapes that tower like the snow-covered cliffs themselves.
The release compiles material from Drudensang's first EP and their "Teufelsspuk und Alpenraunen" split, presenting them in newly crafted versions that showcase the project's evolution. The music channels the raw power of mountain storms and the whispered secrets of ancient stones, creating an atmosphere that's both reverent to traditional Alpine folklore and devastatingly heavy. Each track builds upon the Watzmann legend, disgorging dark revelations from bloodthirsty years past while maintaining the mysterious aura that shrouds these legendary peaks.
