Background information about 'Hate, Fear & Power'

Back in print for the first time in nearly two decades, "Hate, Fear & Power" is the sound of a band sprinting flat out and refusing to slow down for anybody. Hirax cut this one in 1986 with drummer Eric Brecht of D.R.I. behind the kit, and you can hear the whole thing straining at the leash — eight tracks, barely twenty minutes, zero wasted seconds. Where "Raging Violence" already burned hot, this follow-up turns the dial further into the red, sharpening the riffs and tightening the attack until every song lands like a jab.

What makes it such a landmark is how naturally it stitches thrash metal to hardcore punk. The crossover here isn't a compromise, it's a collision — breakneck riffing slamming into d-beat fury while Katon W. De Pena screams over the top in that unmistakable high-pitched wail. It's fast, it's relentless, and it's completely direct, the kind of record that gets in, makes its point, and gets out before you've caught your breath. Longtime heads often name it a cult classic, and the songwriting is genuinely tighter and more furious than what came before, sitting comfortably beside the early work of SOD and Repulsion.

Twenty minutes that feel like a fistfight in a phone booth. Essential crossover thrash.
